I appreciate all the LOVE you showed here. It's heart felt and spot on - Willow is uber talented. How can she not be? She was raised to march to her own inner rhythm by two very distinct, wise artists. AND... I do think there is another element to this that must be addressed.

Willow gets to invest in herself and her art making because of her extreme level of privilege. She has all of the tools, resources and access to the best of the best mentors and musicians that most of us can only dream of. She gets to be an artist full time because that's how she came out of her mother's womb - with this privilege. It doesn't make her "bad" or her music any less inspiring or worthy of the honor that your writing bestows it. BUT we should have really high expectations of her given all of this and it must be part of the way we talk about art and art making.

We must also hold those who are creating at such a high level without the same amount of privilege even higher though, as well as aim to level the playing field.
